The Benedictine Volunteer Program offers the opportunity for women to live in monastic community with the Benedictine Sisters of Florida, sharing in their daily prayer and work for a specified time.

Requirements:

  1. Single, widowed, or divorced women - age 25-70 years - no dependents

  2. Desire to experience monastic life

  3. Good health to participate in community living

  4. Ability to adapt to different works and community life

  5. Financially independent to provide for major personal expenses

Length of Service:

2 weeks to 1 year with the option to renew or extend the arrangement if it is mutually beneficial.

Type of Placement:

  • Infirmary Aid

  • Web page/computer

  • Companion to the elderly

  • Driving

  • Sacristy/Chapel

  • Maintenance/Housekeeping

  • Kitchen Help

  • Music and Liturgy

  • Hospitality

  • Reception desk

  • Gardening

  • Business office/clerical

  • Library

  • Direct Service to the Poor

Benefits to the Volunteer:
