We, the Benedictine Sisters of Florida,
commit ourselves and our resources
to respond with the compassion of Christ
to the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social hungers of the people of God.

The Corporate Commitment, first made in 1996, has brought us together and given us direction as a community;  it has helped us and others to understand better what we are about.  It is amazing how much a community of 17 + one postulant, 3 affiliates, and 2 resident volunteers has done - how many hungers we have fed. 

Many of our ongoing activities: retreats, hospitality, education, are ways we alleviate spiritual, emotional, and intellectual hungers. 

We've stretched to reach out in actions of peace and justice to feed the physical hungers: alms for the local Daystar, Bread for the World lobbying re: the issue of hunger in our world, our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Lenten Soup Supper and direct service to the poor.

It is not WHAT we do that is directed by our Corporate Commitment, but HOW and WHY.  The heart is surely shaped by it.
